Jill McNair is a visual artist and an educator based in New Brunswick. She has a background as an art therapist and art instructor, and this experience has expressed upon her the connection between the creative art process and one’s imagining of a more hopeful future. She studied Applied Social Sciences at the University of Guelph, Art Therapy at Western University and Education at York University. Her love of the natural world and her intention to seek physical and mental well-being has led her to her current body of work. Jill lives on the banks of the Petitcodiac River near Moncton, New Brunswick with her husband and her Yorkshire Terrier.
She can often be found seeking inspiration along the Atlantic coastline, beach combing, or hiking in one of the sensational provincial or national parks.
The painting that donors receive at the Partner Level was created by Jill, and features the Great Blue Heron, a bird the artist frequently encounters in the wetlands of Shediac and Sackville Waterfowl Park. Titled, Patience, the work reflects the heron’s symbolism as a quiet, focused hunter and a sign of good fortune. This piece captures the stillness and strength found in nature’s moments of calm.
