Progress Continues on Coronary Care Unit Construction

Work is steadily advancing on the new $56 million Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital. This state-of-the-art, two-storey facility is being built behind the Sheldon H. Rubin Oncology Clinic, off Arden Street.

The project includes the development of approximately 2,600 square meters (28,000 square feet) of clinical space on Level 2. Once complete, the new unit will feature:

• 8 CCU beds
• A procedure room
• 30 cardiac medical beds
• Comprehensive support spaces including nurse stations, offices, team rooms, utility rooms, and more.

This modern, innovative care unit will transform cardiac care delivery in our region—enhancing outcomes for patients and their families, while also supporting the needs of our dedicated staff and physicians.

Special thanks go to the provincial government and the generous donors of the Extraordinary Care Campaign for making this vision a reality.

This facility is expected to be ready for occupancy by September 2027.
